Chimney Repair

Chimney repair is an integral part of any complete home maintenance routine. If you have a fireplace chimney in your home, you need to take care of these so that you can get the best value and comfort from them in winter.

Homeowners who put off chimney repair and maintenance until they are forced to address it by necessity may result in the damage  already be done.

Chimney Inspection

Whether you’re busy, you don’t use it every day or you just aren’t sure what you’re supposed do, it can be easy to fall behind on your fireplace maintenance. Unfortunately, it can also be dangerous.

Heating equipment like chimneys are the second most common cause of home fire fatalities, and failure to clean this equipment is the leading factor contributing to home heating fires

Chimney Sweeping

Did you know that even if you don’t use your fireplace you still need to have your chimney swept? Hiring a professional company to come in and do an inspection and cleaning of your chimney is essential to maintaining a healthy home.

Open masonry fireplaces should be swept when there is a presence of 1/8” of soot build-up and sooner if there’s glaze present in the chimney system.  A once a year chimney sweep is recommended.

Chimney & Furnace Liners

New or Replacement

Liners within chimneys and furnaces act as a protectant layer that makes your home safer and more efficient. They typically come in the form of clay, ceramic, or metal. Their purpose is intended to contain the combustion products, direct them to the outside atmosphere, and protect the heat source walls from heat and corrosion.

Chimney Anatomy

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), defective smoke chambers are the third leading cause of chimney-related house fires. For the safety and efficiency of your fireplace, it is important that any gaps, cracks, or holes in the smoke chamber be sealed and the brick corbelling be made smooth.

INSPECTIONS & CERTIFICATIONS FirepLace Services

Central Jersey Fireplace is fully certified and licensed to inspect your fireplace and chimney for any upcoming inspections.

Level 1

If your appliance or your venting system has not changed and you plan to use your system as you have in the past, then a Level 1 inspection is a minimum requirement. A Level 1 inspection is recommended for a chimney under continued service, under the same conditions, and with the continued use of the same appliance.

Level 2

A Level 2 inspection is required when any changes are made to the system. Changes can include a change in the fuel type, changes to the shape of, or material in, the flue, or the replacement or addition of an appliance of a dissimilar type, input rating or efficiency. Additionally, a Level 2 inspection is required upon the sale or transfer of a property.

LEVEL 3

A Level 3 inspection includes all the areas and items checked in a Level 1 and a Level 2 inspection, as well as the removal of certain components of the building or chimney where necessary.
